How to Change a 2002 VW Jetta Fuel Filter

The fuel filter in your 2004 VW Jetta should be replaced every 20,000 to 30,000 miles to avoid information technology clogging up over time. The filter is responsible for preventing debris in the gas tank from inbound the fuel system itself. A clogged filter can cause many problems, from rough running and poor fuel economy to a motorcar that won't start at all. Replacing the fuel filter on your 2004 Jetta is a straightforward process.
Pace 1
Park the vehicle on a flat surface in a well ventilated area. Lift the rear, passenger side of the vehicle with a jack and lower it onto a jack stand.

Locate the fuel filter, which is under the passenger side of the machine, well-nigh the fuel tank and the correct rear bike. Loosen the clench around the trunk of the filter that holds it to the filter subclass with a screwdriver.
Step 3
Place a container under the filter to grab any spilled fuel. Employ a screwdriver to press the tab on the quick-connect fitting on the line on the front of the filter. Step 4
Release the quick-connect on the fuel line that goes to the back of the filter by pressing the tab on the fitting with the screwdriver. Pull the filter off of the line while belongings the release tab on the connect fitting. Slide the filter towards the front of the car to release it from the subclass clench.

Install the new filter the opposite of removal, tightening the band for the subclass around the body of the filter. Install the fuel lines by sliding the lines onto the filter until the quick-connect makes a clicking audio.
